Corcel, Cíclope, Doncel: Myth and Postmodernism in Juan Antonio González Iglesias
Keywords:
Mito, postmodernism, imitatio multiplex, eroticism, contaminatioAbstract
This paper examines the presence of three mythical figures (an unnamed centaur, the cyclops Polyphemus, and the Sicilian hero Acis) in the work of the poet and Latin scholar Juan Antonio González Iglesias. The detailed examination of the two compositions will identify mechanisms of intertextuality, similar to the ancient concept of imitatio multiplex, allowing the combination of various models and heterogeneous materials. The analysis will focus on the use of erotic language and the newest importance that myth may assume in postmodern Spanish poetry.
