Generic Interaction in the Second Book of Virgil’s Georgics

This paper offers an analysis of some passages from book Two of the Georgics in order to study and explain the generic interaction. This implies a reflection about the selection of the literary genre as well as being an aesthetic principle. This literary resource is analysed at lexical, semantic, and pragmatic levels. As critics have pointed out, the poetics of intertextuality is one of Virgil’s most powerful evocative tools to communicate his ideas and obtain active collaboration from the competent reader.
