Abstract

According to the classical idea traduttore/traditore, this work analyses Longus’novel Daphnis and Chloe, and five spanish “translations/treasons” from 1886 (the first spanish translation made by Juan Valera) to 2001, the last translation by Jorge Bergua; between them, the great translation of Maximo Brioso, Colección Gredos, 1982. “Sandals, sole, cnemidas and shoes” are the greek words inappropriately translated into Spanish.
