Abstract

The aim of this article is to offer a comparative analysis of the literary works El pecado del padre Mouret by Émile Zola and Doña Luz by Juan Valera. From the perspective of the Comparative Literature, this research proposes an approach to the figure of priest in love in the French and Spanish novel of Nineteenth Century. To this purpose, this study resolves to carry out an interpretation in the light of the romantic, realistic, naturalist and symbolist traces noticeable in both literary works, in order to offer a new vision about the nineteenth-century novel.
