The legal protection of the crime victim in the framework of socio-economic crime in the European Union

One of the issues that has aroused the greatest interest, both at a national and European level, is none other than the legal protection of the victim in the context of socio-economic crime. Although there are numerous normative instruments that face a regulation of the rights of that and whose task is to guarantee the satisfaction of their interests, the complexities that arise when the offended is a diffuse or not perfectly identified person has led to a wide debate. The renewed protagonism of the victim is a clear manifestation of the so-called Restorative Justice, a paradigm of incipient development in our society. However, the objectives of reparation, rehabilitation and the achievement of social peace that it postulates can be undermined when it is difficult to identify the victim of the crime.
