Analysis of the construction of negation and rejection < no + vtran + [pron + [que ver]]> and its possible equivalents in Serbian

This paper analyses the Spanish formulaic construction of negation and rejection “no tiene nada que ver” (“it has nothing to do with”) and its contextual equivalents in Serbian within the frameworks of Construction Grammar and Contrastive Phraseology. Using data from digital corpora of both languages, the study explores their variation, structural fixation, and discursive functions. While in Spanish the construction expresses negation and contrast, in Serbian it also fulfils routine and polite functions. The comparison reveals differences in usage patterns, translation, and pragmatic organisation, highlighting universal and language-specific tendencies in the construction of conversational discourse.
