In these novels of Luis Landero, we find characters experiencing a process of vital learning; this type of novel is placed under the concept of the bildungsroman, of German origin. In both novels we can see Schopenhauer’s influence in their self-reflective nature as well as in the concept of “will”, which acts as a life driving force in the search for personal identity.
