Legend of an Intimate Post-War Period. Ethics, Memory and Narration in Luis Mateo Díez’s Fantasmas del invierno
Keywords:
Fantasmas del invierno, Luis Mateo Díez, historic memoryAbstract
This legendary novel of Diez’s, lacking any historicist will, sets itself to shed light on what happened in 1947 during the Spanish post-war period. The use of the legendary as a narrative strategy, seen in the utter lack of accuracy and linear progression, gives the story a universal dimension. The work is a reflection upon the pollution of a violence that creates more violence, stressing the ethical aspects of all possible stands against the conflict.
