Abstract

Taking the complicities between LGBTIQ+ minorities and comics medium over time as a starting point, this paper aims to analyze a homoerotic comic published in Spain in recent decades: the one titled Víctor & Álex, by Javi Cuho and David Cantero (2012 [2005-2006]). Since that particular work is addressed here within the framework of Cultural and Gender Studies, we will pay special attention to the way such homoerotic comic is involved in the socio-political background where it arises, characterized by profound changes in regard with sexual rights, as well as with the normalization of experiences and the configuration of LGBTIQ+ identities. The kind of concerns which ultimately motivates our interest in that specific comic leads us towards outlining a (necessarily) brief overview of both LGBTIQ+ identity construction and comic works recent history in Spain, focused on gay identity and comics.
