This study analyzes the use of the second-person in El río del edén (2012) by José María Merino, a work in which the original functions of this narrative technique are reinstated after its abuse in experimental periods. Through a homodiegetic narration, Merino employs the second-person to create an external view of the inner reality of his protagonist, as well as to develop an unrelenting judgment of Daniel against himself.
