The overall aim of this article, is to help people understand how useful are science education and its working procedures for the intellectual development of youngest children. Moreover, a series of practical proposals are presented in order to show one of the most suitable ways to carry out science literacy through the methodology that is inherent to science teaching. We will see how, through the acquisition of not so much scientific concepts as its procedures, certain abilities are developed in children being really practical for them both at individual and collective contexts, and helping them to do well in society. On the other hand, in this article we will also explore the project work methodology, whose procedures are perfectly adapted to scientific procedures.
