This paper analyses the role played by the architecture generated around Juan de Herrera in Eastern Andalusia (Granada and Jaén), after his intervention in the Palace of Charles V at the Alhambra. In the period between 1590 and 1650, architects arrived from the Royal Court, like Francisco de Mora, Francisco de Potes, and some other locals ones, more or less disaffected, continued and consolidated an architectural classicism characterised by an excellent stereotomic tradition. Among them outstands the figure of Juan de Aranda Salazar. Neither should we forget the part played by the Society of Jesus through their architects, in particular Juan Bautista Villalpando, who worked in Baeza, and was closely linked to Juan de Herrera.
