The Juan Cabré Museum, in Calaceite (Teruel), maintains within its walls a score of paintings by the archaeologist the museum is named after. The aim of this article is to present a totally different image of this famous Aragonese archaeologist. The logbooks of copyists from the Museo Nacional del Prado bring to light the almost unpublished facet as a painter of one of the most important archaeologists of the 20th century in our country. In addition to that, we would like to highlight the necessity of copying the great masters of painting as a learning method for new artists and how the most important museums allow students and amateurs to enter their galleries from the moment of their creation.
