This article invites to a reconsideration of the participation of the Jesuit architect Juan Fernández de Bustamante in the projects of the Society of Jesus in the Province of Castile during the last quarter of the 16th century. The study of his participation as a designer in the façade of the parish church of Lantadilla (Palencia) is inserted in the debate about the role of the architects of the Society of Jesus as authors of the projects or as mere supervisors of designs made by lay architects.
