All along the 19th century, a historiographic account was woven, initiated by Romantic intellectuals and culminated by the Renaixença movement, in which the building of the ‘Casa de la Generalitat’ of Valencia was revalued for its relationship with the legal institutions of the Kingdom of Valencia, which disappeared in 1707. This historiographical and ideological construction culminated in its legal declaration as a monument in 1931 and in its material restoration in style, which was completed in 1952. After the abolition of the territorial laws, it housed the ‘Audiencia’ and the ‘Diputación Provincial’. Converted into a monument, since the enactment of the autonomy statute in 1982 it has been the seat of the Valencian autonomous government.
