The use of medicines in different conditions from authorized is regulated by law to prevent a widespread use, although it actually happens, implying a risk for the well-being of the patients. It takes place specially in areas such as pediatrics, obstetrics, psychiatry… promoted by several factors in which the pharmaceutical industry, the profile of each patient and the time dedicated to every patient play a key role. This misuse takes place because of several reasons: optimization of the dose, synergy, insufficient clinical studies, compassionate use, because of being included in the same class as other approved medicines …
