The aim of the present study is to arrange and clarify the ideas about natural philosophy included in the lapidaries written in the Castilian language. Such a task has some disadvantages deriving from the nature of the lapidary itself: an unexplained theoretical body, uncritical encyclopedism, and non-existent experimentalism. Nevertheless, it has been possible to gather a theoretical corpus by applying an analytical method which seeks to find the lexical connections existing in these lapidaries.
