The present study analyses the monastic policy of Elionor of Sicily (1349-1375) who is regarded as an especially pious personality. Her name is especially associated with the foundation of Santa Clara (Catalina) in Teruel, the reconstruction of Santa Clara in Calatayud, and the financial reorganization of Santa María in Sigena. With the exception of Teruel, these have not been studied yet in any detail. A systematic analysis of the queen’s religious donations will be made, providing original information found in the queen’s treasurer’s ledgers and her chancellery registers. Elionor’s monastic endeavours are confirmed to have been centered geographically in the Kingdom of Aragon. Additionally, Elionor is seen to have implemented the memoria of her paternal family, that is, the Sicilian branch of the House of Barcelona, with a political intention.
