About the Journal

Editorial Objective

The present academic publication is situated within the complex domain of transdisciplinarity. Consequently, it adopts diverse perspectives related to the analysis and study of social, cultural, and didactic elements through their linguistic and literary expressions. Therefore, theoretical and empirical works concerning linguistic and literary matters from sociological, cultural, and historical viewpoints will be accepted, as well as those presenting didactic or educational aspects in the contemporary teaching of languages and their literatures.

Institutional Affiliation

This journal is owned by the University of Valladolid (Spain), which provides its digital hosting and is responsible for its maintenance and management through the University of Valladolid Press (EdUVa) and the Information and Communication Technologies Service of the University of Valladolid (STIC). The University of Valladolid guarantees open access to the journal's content. Works published therein will be included in the Institutional Repository of the University of Valladolid, ensuring their long-term preservation.

Publication Frequency

Nudos is an annual publication, issued in the month of July. Furthermore, the edition of monographic issues, which may be extraordinary or otherwise, is accepted. In the event that an issue is extraordinary, it will be published throughout the corresponding year, albeit without a specific date.

Peer Review Process (Double-Blind)

Works that do not adhere to the format and editorial standards established by the journal will be returned to the authors for eventual modification. Articles that comply with the format and editorial standards will undergo a double evaluation process: initially, the Editorial Board of the journal will conduct a selection of the manuscripts received, assessing whether they meet the requirements expected of high-quality academic publications. Subsequently, articles that have passed the initial selection will be evaluated anonymously by two experts in the corresponding field of knowledge (double-blind).

In order to maintain anonymity, authors are advised to avoid self-citation in the first person. In the case of contradictory reports, the Editorial Board will request a third report and subsequently reach a decision regarding the publication of the article. The decision of the Editorial Board shall be final and will be communicated to the authors within a maximum period of ninety days from the receipt of the work (vacation periods of the designated evaluators are considered non-business days for this calculation). Given that the journal is committed to conducting the evaluation process within such a brief timeframe, and out of consideration for the work of the reviewers, authors are requested not to submit their articles to another journal until the result of the evaluation is known.

Works receiving two positive reports will be sent to their authors to implement any corrections suggested by the evaluators. Authors have a maximum period of one month to return the articles, which will be published once the corrected versions are received.

The average evaluation time for articles is currently 60-90 days, starting from the date of confirmation of receipt.

Ethical Code of Conduct

The journal will adhere to the ethical code established in the Guide to Good Practices of the University of Valladolid Press, which follows the principles proposed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). This guide establishes the ethical procedure for authors, editorial committees, and reviewers, the content of which is summarized below:

         1. Authors

The authors of the articles must commit to conducting their research ethically and responsibly, respecting current legislation and the aspects detailed in section 1 of the Guide to Good Practices of the University of Valladolid Press. Their works must be original and unpublished, and must be duly attributed to those who authored them, avoiding plagiarism (misappropriation of others' works or ideas), self-plagiarism (utilization of one's own previous ideas or works without citing the source), and multiple or redundant publication of the same work. Clear reference shall be made to the sources used, and the invention, distortion, or manipulation of data shall be avoided. Failure to comply with these aspects may result in the public disavowal of the articles, as explained in section 2.2 of the aforementioned guide.

Information derived from private conversations or debates with other individuals in the academic or scientific sphere may not be used without explicit permission. If images or graphics not authored by the writer are included, express permission for their use must be obtained and authorship must be appropriately cited.

Works currently being evaluated by another journal or publisher may not be submitted. Once submitted to the journal, originals may not be sent to another journal or publisher until the evaluation process is completed.

         2. Editorial Committee

Members of the editorial committee must ensure the quality of publications, promoting good research practices, attempting to prevent malpractice, and seeking to streamline publication processes.

It is the responsibility of the editorial committee to manage the evaluation process of publications with fairness and impartiality, respecting the thought of those who have written the works and guaranteeing them the right to express disagreement with the evaluation reports. Those comprising the editorial committee must respect the confidentiality of the articles and their content until the time of publication, and they may not utilize data from the works for their own research unless they have the express permission of the authors.

The editorial committee may consider an author's refusal to have their work evaluated by certain individuals, assessing whether the reasons alleged for this purpose are justified, without being obligated to exclude those individuals.

Editorial committees will recognize the work of individuals who perform evaluation reports, issuing, where appropriate, the corresponding accreditations to those who have properly fulfilled their duties.

The editorial committee must strive to prevent research malpractice (redundant publication, plagiarism or self-plagiarism, omission of cited sources, invented, misrepresented, manipulated data, or data used without authorization). If improper practices affecting a small portion of the received manuscript are detected, the author will be invited to correct them; the manuscript will be rejected if they affect a substantial part.

If a case of malpractice is detected following the publication of the article, the editorial committee will request clarifications from the author and, after assessing their explanations, will reach a decision. If only a part of the work contains errors, it may be resolved through the publication of an erratum. If the malpractice affects a substantial part of the article, it must be publicly disavowed, in accordance with the procedure described in section 2.2 of the Guide to Good Practices of the University of Valladolid Press.

Furthermore, the editorial committee will seek to resolve eventual conflicts of interest described in section 2.4 of the aforementioned guide.

         3. Evaluators

Evaluators must refrain from reviewing works if they have any relationship with the authors that would render it inadvisable, as explained in section 3 of the Guide to Good Practices of the University of Valladolid Press.

The work of the evaluators must be confidential, both during the evaluation process and after the eventual publication of the evaluated work. Evaluators may not make use of the evaluated content for their own personal benefit or that of others, and must respect the opinions and intellectual stance of the authors, judging the works objectively and impartially. They must adequately support their judgments, remain respectful, constructively correct possible errors, and provide suggestions for improvement regarding content, formal presentation, writing, and the bibliography employed in the articles.

In the event that any type of malpractice is detected in the reviewed works, evaluators must notify the editorial committee of the journal so that the corresponding decision may be adopted.

Evaluators must submit their reports within the agreed time. If they cannot complete their task within the planned timeframe, or if they do not consider themselves qualified to evaluate the work, they must inform the editorial committee as soon as possible.
