Rosa Chacel, Carmen Martín Gaite: Two Reflections Surrounding Woman and Creation
Keywords:
Rosa Chacel, Carmen Martín Gaite, FeminismAbstract
Abstract: With an introductory reflection on language, this comparative study extrapolates the universal and cultural identity of the masculine to Rosa Chacel’s and Carmen Martín Gaite’s reflections on the impossible duality of their profession: writing and being a woman. Although both authors’ shared vital and literary paths, there is a considerable divergence in their attitude to the feminine; a difference that leads either to self-exclusion or to the creation of a ‘third way’.
