This article analyzes the literary representation of violence experienced by women in the current American West. The selected primary source is the choral novel El mapa de los afectos (2020) by Ana Merino, a fictional product that provides a Spanish migrant’s perspective on the United States. Moreover, this research explores the construction of several types of women taking into account the intersection of elements such as national origin, ethnicity, and social class. Furthermore, it analyses the contextual and cultural constructs that promote violence.
