This article presents the description and results of a methodological proposal that was carried out with the intention of promoting learning in popular dance, from a constructivist trend and under a didactic strategy of previous organizers. A cross-sectional descriptive study was used. The results showed that the strategy of previous organizers facilitated the learning of new popular dance turns and steps from previous knowledge. Likewise, aspects such as creativity, teamwork, decision making and problem solving were perceived; these elements were put into practice through the study and are linked to the constructivist approach. In this way, a useful methodological proposal for teaching and learning processes in popular dance is offered to professionals in human movement sciences and dance specialists.
