About the Journal

ES REVIEW. SPANISH JOURNAL OF ENGLISH STUDIES (e-ISSN 2531-1654), published by the Department of English at the University of Valladolid, is a double-blind, peer-reviewed journal that publishes original research articles and reviews in the field of English Studies, following an open-access model.

Originally established as ES (1971–1983) and later known as ES. Revista de Filología Inglesa (1990–2016), the journal is broadly dedicated to English Studies and welcomes scholarly essays and book reviews addressing all aspects pertinent to the scientific and critical study of the English language and its literatures.

While comprehensive in scope, ES Review particularly aims to advance knowledge and disseminate research findings in the particular area of the linguistic, literary and cultural links between Spain/Hispanic America and the English-speaking world, with a special focus on language contact, comparative literature, and historical or literary connections.

ES Review has been awarded the Quality Seal for Spanish Scientific Journals by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) in the 2023 call, with a Mention for Good Editorial Practices in Gender Equality. This distinction was renewed in the 2024 and 2025 calls (13/11/2025).
