Luis I and the University of Valladolid: An ephemeral king and a centenary Study

The University of Valladolid identifies itself by the front of its building from the Eighteenth century, which was finished during Luis I lifetime. The front is crowned with the Pope´s emblem and with the figure of the kings who were considered its benefactors: Alfonso VIII, Juan I, Enrique III of Castile and Felipe II. Is not included Luis I, who, notwithstanding, was a protector of this house, given that the financial aid he provided, permitted the conclusion of that new building and allowed to leave the economic decline which was established since the beginning of the Eighteenth century, as a result of the War of Succession, and after that, due to the big outlay which supposed the rebuilding of the University.
