PROTOCOL FOR THE SELECTION AND RENEWAL OF POSITIONS
Investigaciones Históricas. Época moderna y contemporánea has an editorial team consisting of a Director, Editorial Secretariat, Editorial Board and Advisory Board.
The Editorial Secretariat is made up of four editorial secretaries, two for Modern History and two for Contemporary History. The Director, Editorial Secretaries and half of the Editorial Board are members of the Modern History and Contemporary History departments at the University of Valladolid, and since 2024, a professor from the American History department has joined the board due to the growing number of articles received from across the Atlantic. The other half of the Editorial Board are members of the Modern and Contemporary History departments of the region's universities (Burgos, Salamanca and León). The Advisory Board is made up of renowned national and international specialists.
The composition of the journal's members respects the balance between genders and between the areas of knowledge of Modern and Contemporary History.
All members are elected and reappointed on the recommendation of the Modern, Contemporary and American History departments of the University of Valladolid, based on their merits and commitment, and are approved or dismissed at the annual meeting of the Journal Council, which also approves the publication of the annual issue, proposals for monographs and the journal's guidelines. Any member may be dismissed at their own request or for failure to fulfil their duties. The list of positions and members of the journal is updated annually on the journal's website.
The Director, Editorial Secretariat and Editorial Board ensure the journal's quality standards. The Director oversees the proper functioning of the journal, its website and its positioning. The Editorial Board and Advisory Board act as internal reviewers to select the articles submitted to the journal. The Editorial Secretariat handles the double-blind external evaluation of articles and communicates with authors.
