Using the most recent studies about the Spanish 1868 Revolution and the republican political culture, we are proposing a debate about if that Revolution brought itself the democratization of the State. Through the principal ideological movements, we will explain how they developed after 1868; how they tried to put in practice (if they did) their ideas and which are the main reasons to explain the failure of the Revolution. We also have used the primary sources to understand the different ways the revolutionaries faced a post revolutionary period. We will complete the study with a prosopographical analysis of the parliamentarians during the First Spanish Republic.
