This present work seeks to investigate the families of the Spanish naval officers during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, specifically the substantive relations of kinship that these individuals traced throughout their lives. In order to do so, the links that the officers drew in the notarial documentation - fundamentally testaments and powers - through the different formulas, messages, clauses or mentions have been analyzed extensively. Through the mentioned relationships that were outlined in the historical sources, it is possible to make a sketch of the family contours of the naval officers and, above all, to analyze the main changes that took place in their families.
