Abstract

The Archivo General de Castilla y León is the head of the Archives System of Castilla y León. However, for most historians it is not well known. Throughout the article is analyzed  the context of creation of the archive, its history as the basic center of the archival framework of Castile and Leon, as well as its functions and its documentary fonds, in order to better publicize the place where the contemporany memory of Castilla y León is deposited, its most recent history as a Comunidad Autónoma.
