To the rhythm of the days: foundation, daily life and closing of the Military Hospital of Ponte de Lima (1801)

This work analyzes the Military Hospital of Ponte de Lima between its foundation and closure, paying particular attention to its daily life and the difficulties found. Announcing a new attitude of the State regarding the wounded and ill of war.
In the context of the “Guerra das Laranjas”, 1801, the state was forced to erect health facilities where it could not count on the hospitals of the Misericórdias.
Based on the correspondence we seek to know the daily life of this unit of treatment, giving voice to the happened to the rhythm of the days.
