The entrepreneurial markets for the exploitation of coal in Asturias in the mid-XIX century

Mining legislation in Spain prevented the consolidation of coal companies with a considerable size, as they had in other European countries, hindering for this reason their viability. This generated a complex network of instrumental societies that had not been studied until now. On the other hand, leasing tasks was frequent, through which small companies or groups of workers subcontracted the work of the big companies.
