This paper studies how industrial training was implemented and developed in Valladolid, since the end of the 19th century, and the impact it had on the city’s industrial development. Valladolid is among the first Spanish cities to provide such training. Institutions such as the City Council and the Provincial Council participated in its promotion and support. Private institutions linked to companies and to the Catholic Church, as well as public centers provided such training. However, it did not fully consolidate until the Industrial School was founded in 1913. The growth of enrollment in these establishments was related to the process of industrial development experienced by the city, especially since the early 1950s. Through the study of primary sources have been found evidence that reinforces the thesis that in Valladolid the conditions were set for the formation and development of a metal-mechanic industrial district since the end of the 19th century.
