Abstract

Taking as a reference various texts that collect the results of some of the most important expeditions that were carried out in the second half of the 18th century along the Mosquito Coast, which at that time was one of the Central American areas of greatest strategic importance for the Crown Spanish, the present work analyzes the particular circumstances that the territory was going through and the interest of the Hispanic Monarchy to know it and to implement adequate colonization plans to ensure sovereignty, in an area that had been controlled by the British for a long time.
