Sociability and politics in the era of mass parties. Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya in Barcelona, 1931–1939

Esquerra Republicana de Cataluña was formed shortly before winning the elections of April 12, 1931 in Barcelona and in a few months became the main political party in republican Catalonia. Its basic organization was the entities and, in this way, its implantation in the Catalan capital was based on a series of athenaeums, casals and centers that as much as the policy had like objective their social activities. The article tries to show the deployment in the urban spaces of the city and the type of activities that developed these entities, beyond the strictly political ones.
