The significance of the Cartagena´s Naval Base during the Civil War will explain the attempts of control by the political forces in attendance. The appointment of Bruno Alonso as Commissioner of the Base will be the trigger of a series of processes: It will end up sharpening the disagreement between the socialist currents; it will unleash a frontal fight against the PCE and the anarchists and it will highlight the significance of the commanders. The crossed correspondence between Bruno Alonso and Indalecio Prieto offers us the possibility of delving into these issues, exposing the human quality of their protagonists.
