Abstract

This paper explores the emotions of pre-service Physical Education teachers in Spain using bodily diaries during their 12-week practicum. 17 students who were enrolled in an undergraduate degree in Primary Education participated in the study. Their emotional experiences were analyzed to understand their impact in the teaching subjectivity. Different emotions were identified, such as enjoyment, enthusiasm, fear, stress, disappointment and passion, which reveal the emotional complexities during pre-service teaching. The conclusions emphasize the importance of emotions in the construction of the professional subjectivity, highlighting the need to show a good impression at schools, facing the unknown challenges and balance enthusiasm with the capacity to be a good teacher. It is of utmost importance to recognize and understand the emotions linked to the teaching profession and their manifestations in the body, to improve pedagogical practices and avoid any possible negative effects on the health and wellbeing of the pre-service teachers.
