Chrononormativity and Alternative Temporalities in Queer Childhoods/Youth

This paper offers a comparative analysis of three novels —La bastarda, La mala costumbre, and Tengo miedo torero— through the lens of queer temporalities. It explores how dissident childhoods and youth escape chrononormativity and inhabit fragmented, affective, and asynchronous forms of time. Adopting a transatlantic perspective, the study shows how these narratives challenge the linear progress tied to identity development. Beyond thematic analysis, it proposes an aesthetic reading of queer time, examining how narrative structures themselves embody and convey life experiences that resist normative chronological frameworks.
