This article examines vocal modulation as a tool for the construction and affirmation of gender identity in trans and non-binary individuals. Through a mixed-methods approach, it explores the relationships between voice, gender, and stage of transition, as well as the social experiences and adaptation strategies associated with voice. The findings reveal how vocal variations reflect social pressures and gender expectations, potentially resulting in emotions such as frustration and anxiety. Additionally, vocal modulation is highlighted as a practice of self-affirmation and resistance to gender stereotypes. This work aims to provide an interdisciplinary perspective that positions voice as both an identity marker and a means of resistance against restrictive gender norms.
